Thailand's Maldives
Koh Tachai is unique in Thai waters in that it holds appeal for experienced & novice divers and snorkelers alike. There is no other place in Thailand where divers can get to see whale sharks/mantas off Koh Tachai's pinnacle whilst snorkelers enjoy the calm shallow bay.
The beaches at Koh Tachai are spectacular with the white sand and clear water. For these reasons it is often referred to as the Maldives of Thailand.
Scuba diving for beginners at Koh Tachai
The bay in front of the island is sheltered and shallow. It is an excellent place to try a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience with one of Blue Guru's expert instructors.
The bay tapers off several hundred metres away from east coast of Koh Tachai. Here the water colour on the surface changes from turquoise to the typical deep blue signifying deeper waters. The scuba diving in this area is still relatively easy but there are greater chances to see larger animals such as leopard sharks resting on the bottom or the occasional manta ray passing by
Advanced scuba diving at Tachai pinnacle
Tachai pinnacle is off the south tip of the island. It is a more challenging site suitable only for PADI Advanced Open Water divers. The pinnacle is considered one of Thailand's top dive sites. Whale sharks, manta rays, leopard sharks & Napoleon wrasse are just a few of the exciting animals seen here on a regular basis.
Thankfully Koh Phra Thong is the closest islands to Koh Tachai. Blue Guru Diving on Koh Phra Thong run a day-trip service to Koh Tachai on a weekly basis. During peak season this increases to twice a week or more and is open to both divers and snorkelers.
