The PADI Open Water course is the most popular & well-recognised scuba diving course in the world. The PADI Open Water course truly opens up the exciting underwater world of scuba diving to you.
The PADI Open Water course is conducted over 4 days, with independent learning beforehand. The course consists of 5 knowledge development modules, 5 confined water sessions and 4 open water dives. The knowledge development is concluded by a final exam.
With Blue Guru all the confined water sessions, open water dives & final exam are conducted in the idyllic natural surroundings of Koh Phra Thong.
Open Water dives can be arranged around Koh Surin for an additional cost. Please contact us for further details.
On certification as a PADI Open Water diver you will have learnt the fundamentals of scuba diving, be able to assemble/dissemble your scuba diving equipment & have developed the techniques required to dive enjoyably and safely. The PADI Open Water certification enables you to dive with another certified diver to a depth of 18m anywhere in the world.
PADI Junior Open Water certification enables:
• 12–14 year olds to dive to 18m when accompanied by a certified diver aged 18+
• 10&11 year olds to dive to 12m when accompanied by an instructor or parent/guardian if they are a certified diver.
Leads to PADI Advanced Open Water and a broad range of PADI specialties.

Enjoy your first breaths underwater in the clear waters of the Koh Phra Thong under the supervision of an experienced PADI diving instructor.
This 1 day course will give you an overview of key knowledge to scuba dive safely and introduce you to the equipment & how it works. You’ll soon be in the water where your instructor will guide you through a few basic skills that will help you dive with confidence.
You’ll then enjoy 2 guided dives around Koh Pling where you’ll get your first experience of the amazing underwater world. Try it - you might like it!...with Blue Guru.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving is a non-certification course. However on completion of Discover Scuba Diving you can continue into the full PADI Open Water with a significant discount.
