There are lots of activities on offer for those not content with just soaking up the sun. Whether you want to be taught a new skill, work up a sweat, observe amazing animals and plants, learn about the local culture or indulge in luxurious spa treatments, Koh Phra Thong has them all!
Water Activities
Koh Phra Thong is blessed with some of the finest marine environments in Thailand. Blue Guru Diving have a wide variety of water activities for guests to the island.
The clear warm waters are rich with life and provide fun diving and snorkelling opportunities. Blue Guru offer: PADI scuba diving courses up to Assistant Instructor and 20 PADI specialties; local dive trips around Koh Pling, Koh Ra, Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock. Snorkeling equipment and guiding services are also available.
Exploring the extensive mangrove network in a sea kayak is another possibility. And if this all seems to strenuous then a longtail or banana boat trip safari might be more appealing.
Holistic Activities
The Holistic Activities are run by Golden Buddha Beach Resort. They include a number of different types of massage therapy and cleansing treatments. Also available are twice daily yoga sessions with qualified yoga instructors.
PADI Dive Courses
Diving courses on Koh Phra Thong are conducted by the PADI Instructors from Blue Guru. A full range of PADI courses are offered up to Assistant Instructor. Also 18 different PADI specialty courses for refining skills and knowledge.
Blue Guru Diving
Blue Guru looks after the water sport activities on Koh Phra Thong. There are sensational scuba diving, snorkeling and kayaking experiences on your doorstep. Specially tailored family packages are also available.
Nature Activities
Koh Phra Thong is in the middle of some sensational tropical environments. To the west are the amazing reefs and marine life of the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock. On the mainland to the east (and on Koh Ra) there is a crest of fringing mountains covered with ancient rainforest. Koh Phra Thong itself contains huge swathes of savannah and is lined to the east with healthy dense mangrove.
Amongst all this there is much to see and do. Blue Guru at Golden Buddha Beach Resort run trekking trips to the rainforests of Koh Ra as well as jeep safaris across the island savannah. Also, they arrange bird watching trips and can arrange visits to the Naucrates turtle conservation project in Baan Lion. Blue Guru operate the non-diving PADI Project Aware and Coral Reef Conservation courses - these are great options for those looking to learn more about the marine environment.
Community Activities
From a cultural perspective, Koh Phra Thong is a fascinating place. In this area a fusion of cultures and historical incidents have caused a varied landscape of traditions and lifestyles.
Visitors to the island can discover this by by joining a day-trip to one (or more) of the three local villages of Baan Lions, Ta Pae Yoi or Thung Dap. These tours are conducted by a local guide in conjunction with an english speaking assistant.
