Blue Guru Conservation & Diving
Blue Guru Conservation & Diving are an ecotourism activities and diving entity. Previously based in the lively coastal town of Khuraburi they are now based by the beach near Hornbill Hill, within the confines for Golden Buddha Beach Resort.
Blue Guru promote a broad range of PADI courses and fun diving opportunities. They take daily trips to the local dive sites at Koh Pling and regular excursions to the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock.
Ecodiving & Whale Shark Program
Their passion is for ecodiving and other sustainable tourist practices on Koh Phra Thong. They have seen so many other locations become consumed by commercialism that they are determined to assist in providing a bright future for this paradise island.
Ecodiving opportunities include the 8 day Whale Shark Program (conducted in association with Golden Buddha Beach Resort) a variety of PADI Ecospecialties and PADI Non-diving marine awareness programs.
Research Diving and DM Internship
For 2010-2011 season, Blue Guru will be continuing local reef assessments and embarking on some restoration work in Tsunami affected areas. Addtionally, they will run a host of research diving trips in the seagrass and mangrove areas between Koh Phra Thong and Ko Ra. This is an exciting opportunity for more experienced divers or anyone involved in marine conservation.
Blue Guru operate a Divemaster internship program which would be of interest to marine biologists & ecologists. There are two intakes a year. The next programs start in November 2010 and then in January 2011
PADI Dive Courses
Diving courses on Koh Phra Thong are conducted by the PADI Instructors from Blue Guru. A full range of PADI courses are offered up to Assistant Instructor. Also 18 different PADI specialty courses for refining skills and knowledge.
Marine Habitats
This tropical Thai island is fortunate to benefit from diverse & healthy marine habitats. In Golden Buddha Bay there are coral reefs. In Koh Ra Channel there are expanses of seagrass and some of the densest mangrove forest in the country.
