The shallow warm water at Hornbill Rocks at the end of Golden Buddha Beach provides a superb environment for PADI Open Water instruction.

The diving at Koh Phra Thong is excellent for beginners. For those considering a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or the PADI Open Water course, then there really could be no better place. It is also a great location to brush up skills with a PADI Scuba Review.

Local Diving at Koh Phra Thong

Most of the diving is around the two islands Koh Pling Yai and Koh Pling Noi which are situated in a protected bay near to Golden Buddha Beach Resort. These two islands are fringed with hard corals and a variety of fishes. There is also a broad variety of interesting nudibranch and other macro life.

There are also a couple of exciting offshore sites - Gon Pla Luang & Marion's Reef - which are accessed by a 30-40 minute longtail boat journey. These open sea locations offer intrepid scuba divers the opportunity to explore new marine habitats where the Blue Guru boat is the only one there. Deeper and more difficult than the local sites, Koh Phra Thong offshore is a great place to do your Advanced Open Water or to take a relevant PADI Specialty Course.

Broad coral reefs at Koh Surin

The reason many scuba divers come here is because Blue Guru is the closest PADI Dive Centre to some outstanding Andaman diving. First of all there are the Surin Islands with their wide tapering hard coral reefs. Popular with snorkelers but left out by the liveaboards because of their distance from Phuket, the Surin Islands provide some interesting & rarely visited sites for both divers & snorkelers.

The pinnacle at Koh Tachai is an amazing dive site for experienced divers, with a fascinating topography and healthy marine life it is widely regarded as one of Thailand's most exhilirating dives. Koh Tachai is also a beautiful snorkeling destination.
