Scuba Diving Trips in the Andaman
The Andaman Sea is recognised as the best region of Thailand for scuba diving. Koh Phra Thong is a tropical island located in the northern part of the Andaman and is a perfect launching point for scuba trips to the best dive sites in Thailand.
Koh Phra Thong - local diving in Thailand
At Koh Phra Thong we are lucky enough to be one of the few Thai holiday destinations which benefits from genuine local diving. Blue Guru Diving offers fun dives at our local house reef on a daily basis. They are normally conducted from Blue Guru's custom made dive boat, Winnie (see video of Winnie at Koh Pling in bottom left of this page).
The dive sites at Koh Pling are inhabited by a good selection of life. The channel between the two islands has a variety of hard corals and anemones. There are also scattered boulders with crevices where critters hide out.
Fishes, Nudibranchs and Cephalopods
Schools of reef fish gather at the edges of the Koh Pling whilst Great Barracuda lurk in the shadows. The caverns on the back on of Koh Pling Yai are a favourite spot for black reef sharks which come come darting in and out during the day. However, the big draw of the Koh Phra Thong local sites is the macro life.
Here you can find a fantastic diversity of beautiful nudibranch, distinctive to the area. Other interesting macro life found at Koh Phra Thong's local dive sites are pipefish, seahorses, juvenile octopus and cuttlefishes.
Amazing value - Thailand local diving
The final great reason to dive with Blue Guru at Koh Phra Thong is because it is great value for money, with multiple dives at only 800 Bt each.
Blue Guru provides PADI dive courses at Surin and Richelieu

Marine Habitats
This tropical Thai island is fortunate to benefit from diverse & healthy marine habitats. In Golden Buddha Bay there are coral reefs. In Koh Ra Channel there are expanses of seagrass and some of the densest mangrove forest in the country.

Koh Surin Diving -
The best coral in Thailand
The Surin Islands has some of the finest diving in Thailand. A fringing hard coral reef runs along the entire eastern edge of the islands whilst the western side has numerous boulder sites. Koh Surin has the greatest diversity of hard corals in the country.
There is an abundance of other marine life too. Almost a thousand different species of fish are reported to live within the Surin archipelago. Scuba diving with Blue Guru at Surin reveals some diver favourites such as leopard sharks, seahorses, ghost pipefish, bumphead parrotfish and cuttlefish. Also, other more remarkable types of fish are often seen here, this includes shaded batfish, frogfish, manta rays and the majestic whale shark.
Blue Guru Diving run regular trips* to the Surin Islands during high season. Most visitors to Koh Phra Thong will go on one of these trips so early booking is advised.
